Ati Atihan Kalibo Aklan

Kalibo once again celebrates Ati Atihan considered by many as the most religious of Sto. nino celebrations in the country.Held every second weekend of January,Ati Atihan is like iloilo's dinagyang where celebrants paint their faces with black soot.
They wear bright, outlandish costumes as they revel during the last two days of this week long festival.

Celebrants ape the dance of the Atis, hence the name Ati Atihan which means "make believe Atis" this ritual is said to be result of the sale of land in Panay by the Ati chieftain Marikudo to Datu Puti and the Borneans so that they can have a place to settle.

Ati Atihan is a feast in hanor of the Sto. nino.It is celebrated on the second sunday after Epiphany. This day is a day for Catholic as it is observed through several events that focus on the religious theres the processions parades, dancing and merrymaking.
